Handy Tips to Creating Compelling Business Signs

Blog

Most business proprietors know the best way to advertise their goods and services is through business signs. However, not many know the art of creating compelling signage. Having a business sign does not simply constitute placing a banner or billboard with your business' name. You not only need to attract your target demographic, but you also have to give them a reason to pick your goods and services over the competition. Here are some handy tips to creating compelling business signs.

Keep your business sign concise.

When it comes to signage, less is more. You need to figure out the best way of conveying your message with the least amount of characters. This is because when people are looking at signs, they tend to do so in passing. Thus, you should aim to connect with passers-by at first glance by having minimal words to read in an instant. Always keep in mind that your prospective customers are in a hurry tending to their own lives. Stopping to read an entire passage should not be an additional task for them.

Select a simple but attractive font for your business sign.

Another thing to keep in mind when it comes to business signs is the font you use. A mistake some proprietors make is selecting flowery, over the top fonts in an attempt to make their signage stand out. However, if this is not properly executed, you will end up with a business sign that is attractive to look at but cannot be read! Steer clearly from fonts that have numerous curly cues as these can make the words look confusing to some people. Additionally, do not try to mix up the characters with different colours as this could make the signage look confused. Sticking to one uniformly coloured, clear font has higher chances of making people gravitate toward your sign and potentially your business.

Give your customers a reason to visit your business.

No matter what industry you are in, chances are you have competition. Therefore, why would a prospective customer choose your business over the next proprietor? One of the ways of attracting customers would be to give them a reason why your products or services would be best suited for their needs. Will your product or service make your customer feel exclusive? Do they get a free trial? Will you offer them a newbie discount? Is it solving a problem they have? Letting prospective customers know right off the bat through your signage the benefits of opting for your business has a higher chance of luring them to your premises rather than a competitor's.
